The World’s Largest Mobile Art Exhibit to Circle the Chicago Loop
Art on Track Returns to Chicago’s “El” System
May 17, 2010 (CHICAGO) – Art on Track, the world’s largest mobile art exhibit invites passengers aboard an eight-car CTA train set to circle the Chicago loop for a day-long celebration of fine arts and culture on Saturday, August 7th from 5-10 p.m. We invite media to save the date for this exciting event. Art enthusiasts and urban adventurers alike can find the entrance to Art on Track at the Adams and Wabash CTA platform (between 200 and 220 S. Wabash).
For the third time, Art on Track will gather a group of cultural ambassadors from Chicago's diverse art world for an extraordinary mobile gallery experience. Once aboard the train, passengers in the gallery are encouraged to explore and interact with prominent members of Chicago’s art community. The train will circle the 'Loop' track, making stops at Adams/Wabash, Washington/Wells, Quincy/Wells, and Randolph/Wabash.
Art on Track, part of SALVO NFP, is an organization dedicated to increasing cultural awareness and education through exposure to the fine arts. SALVO provides alternative public spaces for arts organizations to showcase their talent to an expanded demographic who may otherwise be isolated from the City’s vibrant arts culture. By presenting contemporary art in a friendly and accessible environment, Art on Track hopes to accelerate the sharing of ideas and personal expression, while ultimately enforcing SALVO’s mission to enrich life through the arts.
Art on Track was founded in 2008 by Tristan Hummel after he saw a need to bring personal expression through art to the masses. “Art on Track began when, as artists, we posed ourselves the question: how do you rejuvenate a culture?" said Hummel. “Underneath what could be dismissed as the sheer novelty of art on a train lies a more profound art experience for the public."
FIGI Water and the School of the Arts Institute are proud to sponsor the artistic endeavor. Tickets can be purchased at the train platform on the day of the event for $10 or in advance for $8 at www.ticketleap.com. Group discounts are also available online.
