THE RECORDING ACADEMY® CHICAGO CHAPTER
ELECTS OFFICERS FOR 2009-2010

Chapter President Peter Strand Welcomes Newly Elected Vice President Larry Sturm
and Secretary David Silbaugh  

Chicago, IL (July 21, 2009) — Chicago Chapter President Peter Strand and Vice President Larry Sturm and will be joined by David Silbaugh, who were elected as officers of the Board, it was announced today by The Recording Academy® Chicago Chapter. Strand will continue his second year term as President, Sturm, also re-elected, will serve as Vice President, and Silbaugh is the new Secretary. The newly elected officers will work in conjunction with The Academy staff and Chapter Board regarding the Chapter's programs and initiatives.

About Peter Strand
Strand currently serves as the President of the Chicago Chapter and is an entertainment, media and intellectual property attorney at Leavens & Strand, LLC where he represents musicians, recording artists, producers, managers, songwriters, independent record labels and production companies. He is also an adjunct professor of music law and entertainment law at Chicago Kent College of Law and serves on the board for the Lawyers for the Creative Arts. Strand was a full-time musician before practicing law and recorded two albums for RCA/Millennium Records and currently performs with his band Mystery Train.

About Larry Sturm
Sturm is presently Vice President of the Chicago Chapter, member of the board of governors, and co-chair of the Producers & Engineers Wing. Recording and mixing many different musical styles from hip- hop, blues, R&B, dance, pop rock to heavy metal, Sturm has deep roots in not only the local music scene but the music he's touched can be heard throughout the world. To read Sturm's discography is like looking at a list of the music industry's who's who. He is strongly embedded in the music industry and looking forward to the numerous challenges ahead for the music industry.

About David Silbaugh
Silbaugh is an active member of the Board of Governors for the Chicago Chapter. He has hosted GRAMMY® SoundChecks, GRAMMY USM programs, GRAMMY Camp and MusiCares® events at Summerfest in Milwaukee over the last several years. Silbaugh currently does talent buying for the Emerging Artists Series and special projects at Summerfest as well as A&R for Banshee Music. He manages two artists and is an entertainment relations consultant for Gibson Musical Instruments. With diverse experience, he is frequently invited as a panelist for music conferences and festivals throughout the country.
