Pro Snowboarder Steve Fisher Heads Into 2009 As
#1 Halfpipe Rider In U.S.
(Chicago, IL) October 20, 2008 – Steve Fisher, two-time X Games gold medalist, is officially ranked #1 in the halfpipe in the United States, beating out big names like Shaun White (ranked #6) and other pro boarders for the coveted position. The US Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA) recently announced their half pipe rankings as the 2009 snowboard season nears. America’s best riders highlight the 2009 U.S. Snowboarding roster, and Fisher is a major contender to top the podiums around the world this season. “I’m pumped about leading the US rankings going in to this season, because the Olympics are just one year away,” comments Fisher. “So hopefully I can hang on to this momentum through next season and bring home a medal from Vancouver in 2010!”
In a sport as intense as snowboarding, it takes an exceptional athlete to garner undivided attention on the halfpipe, and Fisher always delivers. Catch him in action at upcoming competitions including the SAAS Fee World Cup at the end of October, the Germany World Cup in November, the Burton Canada Open, U.S. Grand Prix, and the Dew Action Sports Tour all in December, where he’s sure to prove why his #1 ranking is well deserved. Fisher’s career highlights include two-time X Games gold medalist, three Grand Prix wins, two Vans Triple Crown wins, and four World Cup wins.
