ENCYCLOPÆDIA BRITANNICA® LAUNCHES INTERACTIVE
Chicago, November 10, 2010—Encyclopædia Britannica, in partnership with Publications International, Ltd., is launching its new Britannica® Interactive Science Library just in time for the holiday season. Available at select retailers, this dynamic, portable electronic platform is available in two three-book and a six-book set and is designed to provide interactive and experiential learning for “older” kids (those from fifth through eighth grade). This new product line illustrates how the gift of knowledge can be packaged in an exciting way that will allow any budding scientist to enjoy hours of wholesome fun. “Our two companies bring the best of both worlds when it comes to creating an innovative device that aims to entice middle school kids to expand their knowledge and science prowess through educational engagement,” says Jason Nitschke, Executive Director of Business Development for Encyclopædia Britannica. This new line of interactive science books is designed to capture the attention of young minds eager to learn and utilizes Encyclopædia Britannica’s wealth of knowledge for content. There are currently three sets available at retail locations. The six-book Britannica Interactive Science Library includes all titles: Animals, Space, Under the Sea, Earth, Humans, Dinosaurs, Reptiles, and Birds, while the three-book Britannica Interactive Science Library comes in two different sets: Animals, Under the Sea and Dinosaurs or Space, Earth and Humans. The “brains” of the Interactive Science Library is the SD-X enabled reader, which plays back unlimited audio content when it reads nearly invisible codes on the colorful pages. The visually rich and detailed images come to life when the reader is placed over pictures, and additional facts, vocabulary words, and interactive games and activities play through the integrated speaker. The series is infused with fifth through eighth grade science curriculums, serving as a perfect educational supplement that is easy to use at home. This new line of Encyclopædia Britannica Interactive Science Library products is available at retail stores including Costco, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s Wholesale Club. They are sold in book sets of three or six with the SD-X pen. This series of books complements other Encyclopædia Britannica licensed products at retail stores, such as interactive puzzles, interactive plush, traditional puzzles and more.
